CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Now in my second year of dentistry at the University of Chile, there are several things that I would have liked to change from the first year and the current second year that I am studying.

There are subjects like "Society and culture", which is a first year subject, that I really don't find a clear sense in, as I never went to any of its classes, or paid more attention to them, and I still managed to take it with a very good grade, as it practically talks about things that should be logical. And so I could name a few others that perhaps should be modified to lessen our overall academic load.

A subject with EBD (evidence based dentistry) should be taken in higher courses, as it is more helpful for the thesis, than for what we are currently looking at and what we should focus on, it adds unnecessary pressure on us as it also has a lot of credits and hours that could be dedicated to study.

The library in general I think is very well equipped with internet access and new computers that make it easier for students to study. It is a very useful resource that our faculty has.

Some teaching methods leave something to be desired, as many contradict themselves or end up teaching things that were not necessary later on, such as making us recite from memory some papers with all their full stops and commas in a test, they grade memory, not learning.

How about if we evaluate the era we are in? and take more advantage of the digital resources we have and focus on what will really serve us in the future as people, to serve PEOPLE?
